Statement on the use of AI
I wrote everything that you'll read.
After years of writing and mentoring, I finally decided to collect that advice I had written to turn it into a book. I wanted to release my content to the public so I performed several passes of editing. After much revision, I realized that some of my perspectives were pretty "hot takes" that could come across pretty spicy. Their phrasing could easily have been misunderstood in ways detrimental both to my message to you, dear reader, and even to my career.
As such, I used Anthropic's Claude Sonnet LLM for sensitivity editing.
When using the LLM, I instructed Claude not to recommend reworded text: When responding, rather than giving quoted re-phrasing, recommend ideas and concepts to hit. I will use my own words
. The model highlighted passages that could be misconstrued or misinterpreted, then offered suggestions for reframing them in more palatable ways. Sometimes I took the advice. Sometimes I didn't. Whatever the advice, I did not adopt any wording written by Claude or any other LLM or AI-based system.
I wrote everything myself and the voice you read is my voice.
Additionally, this content does not address how you can use LLMs or other AI-based systems in your own work or research processes. I think LLMs will transform the way we work, but I don't know how. My only advice at present is to experiment yourself, but to understand the limitations of the tools you use. Work smart.
